Valeriia

Valeriia, could you please introduce yourself to our readers?

Of course. My name is Valeriia Puhach, and I’ve dedicated the past twelve years of my life to mastering the art of tattooing. Originally from Ukraine, I’ve showcased my work at prestigious conventions and competitions worldwide. What truly drives me, however, is the profound impact that tattoos can have on a person’s life beyond mere aesthetics.

Your Tattoo Therapy project has gained significant attention for its innovative approach. Could you share with us how this idea came about?

Certainly. The idea for Tattoo Therapy stemmed from a personal journey marked by both physical and emotional scars. As a child, I endured burns that left lasting marks on my body. Years later, I decided to cover one of these scars with a tattoo, not just to conceal but to transform it into something beautiful and empowering. This experience sparked a realization—that tattoos could serve as a form of therapy, healing not only the body but also the soul. Thus, Tattoo Therapy was born out of a desire to offer others the same transformative experience.

In what ways do you believe Tattoo Therapy differs from traditional tattooing practices?

Tattoo Therapy challenges the conventional perception of tattoos as mere decorations. It integrates artistry with psychological healing, addressing deep-seated emotional wounds alongside physical scars. Our approach involves collaborating closely with a psychologist who helps participants navigate their journey of self-acceptance and empowerment. It’s about creating a safe space where individuals can reclaim ownership of their bodies and rewrite their narrative through art.

Could you elaborate on how the psychological aspect enhances the tattooing experience for participants?

Absolutely. Many of our participants have lived with scars that remind them of traumatic experiences or moments of vulnerability. The psychologist’s role is pivotal in guiding them through this transformative process. By addressing the emotional impact of scars, we empower individuals to embrace their bodies with newfound confidence and self-love. The combination of artistic expression and psychological support not only enhances the aesthetic outcome but also fosters profound personal growth.

You’ve mentioned wanting to explore Tattoo Therapy from an unconventional perspective. How do you envision expanding its impact beyond traditional boundaries?

One unconventional perspective I’ve been exploring is the intersection of tattoo artistry with environmental conservation. Imagine using tattoos not just to cover scars but to raise awareness about endangered species or environmental issues. Each tattoo could symbolize a commitment to protecting our planet, with participants choosing designs that resonate with their values. This approach would merge personal healing with collective responsibility, creating a ripple effect of positive change through art.

What challenges have you encountered while pioneering Tattoo Therapy, and how have you overcome them?

One of the main challenges has been dispelling misconceptions about scar cover-ups and promoting the therapeutic benefits of tattoos. Some people still view tattoos as taboo or purely cosmetic, overlooking their potential for emotional healing. Overcoming these challenges involves education, empathy, and demonstrating through our clients’ stories how tattoos can be a powerful tool for self-transformation. Building trust and credibility within both the tattooing and psychological communities has been key to overcoming these barriers.

Looking ahead, what are your aspirations for the future of Tattoo Therapy?

My ultimate aspiration is to make Tattoo Therapy accessible to more people globally, regardless of their background or circumstances. I envision creating partnerships with organizations that support survivors of trauma or individuals facing physical challenges. By expanding our reach and refining our approach, we can continue to innovate within the field of therapeutic tattooing, inspiring others to see tattoos as a catalyst for healing, empowerment, and positive change.
